E: Scarborough

IMG_4183While in the last few weeks of this year at York, I decided with some other flatmates to visit out flatmate Emily while she was at home in Scarborough. I was keen to see what it would be like as I’ve heard so much about it. Phrases I had heard in the past to describe Scarbs were somewhere along the lines of ‘line at the job centre,’ ‘shit hole’ and ‘too touristy’. Having been there and back I can tell you Scarborough is wonderful. There wasn’t many people when I went but the two shores are beautiful and there’s plenty of greenery. I mean take a look at the pictures and judge for yourself. Thank you to Emily I had a great day, especially renting the paddle boat at the chinese themed park.

E: Harrogate

IMG_5122The last ‘House 8 Roadtrip’ (House 8 was the name of my university flat) was to Harrogate, a very posh spa town. Being a spa town means that it has Roman like baths, and was were people would be sent if they were unwell to get better supposedly due to the charm of the place. It wasn’t my favourite place we visited probably due to the nasty weather. However if driving by it’s definitely worth having a little walk around as there are some beautiful buildings. I really liked the main park with a pine forest and the gallery which changes it’s exhibition. It’s free to get into both of those.

L: VV Brown Secret Gig

SONY DSC

These are some photos from a while back when I went with my sister to see VV brown perform her new stuff live. The new music is a massive change in direction and although I enjoyed listening to it live and think it will translate well to recording I’m not sure if it will appeal to the masses. Having said that, VV’s new music may go down like a storm in the alternative market. The new music video for her upcoming single ‘Sampson‘ was recently released. The new musical direction is clearly present in the music video also. VV doesn’t even make an appearance. It’s a great example of British entrepreneurial spirit especially in the musical industry. Keep your ears peeled for more, I had a great night the gig was set in a little room underneath a bridge near Old Street station and the vodka cranberry’s were in unlimited supply, there was a good vibe and a great DJ set before she came on.    SONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSCSONY DSC SONY DSCSONY DSC

S: York’s Never Ending Winter

IMG_8048

Every chance I get to go into York on a nice day I take. Nice days are rare to come by weather wise, yet you do notice the north usually has clearer skies than the south. One of my flatmates friends came to visit and we thought we’d give a small tour and it would be a chance to use my camera. I principally wanted to film but taking photographs got a hold of me.

C: London Tour Guides By Chris

IMG_7336

My awesome South African, Italian, Greek and Cypriot cousin came over to London to spend Christmas with us. Throughout the whole holiday I felt ridiculously guilty due to the fact instead of taking her around places nearby like I should have been, I was cooped up in a messy office revising frantically for my first set of university exams. Got a lot riding on these but in the end they turned out alright. Well I say that now but I still have no idea what I got. Was a nice change from the usual Christmas festivities. I did manage to clear half a day in my boring schedule to take her round as many key sites of London as I could. I need to apologize because it’s clear I do not have what it takes to be a tour guide. All it consisted of was telling my cousin and sister to move and appreciate things. Will cross that one off the career list ~IMG_7301
