E: National Day In Singapore

IMG_7798

Big news everyone, I’m currently on the other side of the world. Scared as hell and alone but not having too bad a time. In case you didn’t know I’ve moved to Singapore for my second year of studies. It’s a pretty big culture shock and though things are pretty much just how I expected them here (a lot cloudier though) I’m handling it a bit worse than I thought I would.

I guess my first year at university was far more than I ever expected so naturally I’m missing course friends and flatmates and hating the fact I’ll be missing out on plans with them back home. Each day spent here gets a bit better. Yesterday me and some other exchange students went to see the fireworks because it was the Singaporean national day.

They were pretty impressive. I’ll be posting some catch up posts later on, it’s been pretty busy but hopefully I’ll have some more time to be posting photos. IMG_7735Waiting for celebrations to start

Pretty cool crowd if I say so myself.IMG_7684Little similar to the Red Arrows back home?

C: Sunset

IMG_5045

Went and saw a beautiful sunset on my last evening in York before heading back home to eat some delicious home made cake. I will miss the place, I’ve had a brilliant year and it breaks my heart I won’t be back there with everyone I met next year. I went out and purchased my York hoodie so I’d have something to remind me of my ‘university origin’ if you wish. How I’ll get through labs next year in a room full of educated second years who don’t know me, who knows.

C: For The Moment

49For the moment my life is studying DNA and Cellular composition. The work I have to get through is quite a lot and I’m not really getting it done. Thought by sharing this beautiful picture of a gel electrophoresis graph. (If that’s what it is) would help motivate me.

C: Early Christmas Celebrations

546825_10151190952193927_509203541_nMe and my flat got our heads together a thought up a great Christmas shopping list. The next step was to buy the food, the following step was the cooking. Well I was busy studying during the shopping part but of course I was present for the eating and taking photographs. It was an absolutely brilliant meal, good enough to give Christmas dinner back home a run for it’s money.

I was really impressed we managed to feed 11 people. Now I’m home for the Christmas holiday but it has to be said I am missing all of them. On a brighter note it’s great to see everyone from back home and that they are all healthy and well. Of course it has to be said I’m thrilled to be back in London. Enjoy the photos below!

Sightseeing on Campus

I live on a reasonably picturesque campus. The University of York is often famed for it’s hideous buildings such as the spaceship and the vast majority of Derwent College. Saying that all the new additions are very welcome. So much water can be found throughout campus in the lakes and ponds making some of the less attractive buildings much more tolerable. Most of the time it feels like you are walking through a park instead of a university.

It may seem like a stupid reason but the way the university felt and looked was important when I was deciding which one to attend and if to attend at all. I still think I was wise to consider this because imagine having a hard time with the workload and having to walk through concrete blocks to get to subjects on time. I know I couldn’t put up with that. Enjoy the shots ~

Life Took Me Here

So I’ve moved to York to study. Did I ever think I would be studying? No, Did I ever think I would be moving away from London? No, Did I ever thi… Ok you get the point. So I’m here and it’s unexpected and my body isn’t reacting to it too well but mentally I’m feeling fairly stable. I’m homesick for Cyprus however we all know that’s usual. Stay tuned for more about the city and hopefully some street photography.
